We started working with Martin Haugo at the beginning of this off-season. Martin lives in Norway and is a semi professional marathon mountain bike racer for Team Merida Norway. His attention to detail and ability to put in the time are legendary. We learn from all of the people that we work with and Martin is a great example of that. He is constantly looking into new ways to get a fraction of a percentage more out of his performance and at the elite level that is the difference between reaching your goals and not.
Martin has a full schedule this year starting with this week’s 6 stage off-road Andalucia Bike Race. He and teammate Thomas Egelsgjerd make up Team Merida-Hardrocx Norway and opened up with a solid stage 1 time trial, finishing 43rd out of the 97 teams of two in the Men’s Elite category. A 29th in stage two is a good sign that the results should keep improving throughout the week. While this isn’t a big goal for them at such an early point in the season, it is a great test of how all of the hard work this off-season will play out.
